The Sacrament of Baptism, instituted by Christ, is our participation in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus (Romans 6:3-4). In the waters of baptism, we receive the very life of God lost to us with Original Sin. In short, we are cleansed from the stain of that Original Sin, our sins are forgiven, we are made adopted sons and daughters of God, we become members of Christ, we are incorporated into the Church and Her mission, and we receive charisms (or spiritual gifts) for the sake of our participation in that mission. Thus, as the Catechism of the Catholic Church says: Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other Sacraments (CCC 1213).
Saturday Private Baptisms are also available upon request at a higher rate than Sunday baptisms.
Baptisms for infants are not scheduled on Christmas Day, Easter Sunday, Divine Mercy Sunday and Corpus Christi.
By Baptism we become members of the Church, the Body of Christ.
The origin and foundation of Christian Baptism is Jesus. Before starting his public ministry, Jesus submitted himself to the baptism given by John the Baptist. The waters did not purify him; he cleansed the waters. . . . Jesus did not need to be baptized because he was totally faithful to the will of his Father and free from sin. However, he wanted to show his solidarity with human beings in order to reconcile them to the Father. By commanding his disciples to baptize all nations, he established the means by which people would die to sin – Original and actual – and begin to live a new life with God.
In Baptism, the Holy Spirit moves us to answer Christ’s call to holiness. In Baptism, we are asked to walk by the light of Christ and to trust in his wisdom. We are invited to submit our hearts to Christ with ever deeper love.
English Baptisms are every Sunday at 12:00 pm
Baptismal preparation class is on the last Thursday of each month in the Administration Building 7:00 pm and is required for first child. Godparents and child/ children do not need to attend the class.
God parents will need a form from a Parish they are currently attending stating that they are a practicing Catholic and are in good standing to be a God parent. Copies of God parents baptism or confirmation certificates are sufficient.
To register your child for Baptism, please stop at the parish office with his/her original birth certificate. You may print out and fill in the form below or fill out a form in the office.
Baptismal Certificate must match the original birth certificate. If either parent has their name missing on birth certificate legally we can not write it on the baptismal certificate.
Polish Baptisms are every Sunday at 1:30 pm
Baptismal preparation class is on the second Wednesday of each month in the Administration Building 7:15 pm and is required for first child. Godparents and child/ children do not need to attend the class.
God parents will need a form from a Parish they attend stating that they are a practicing Catholic and are in good standing to be a God parent.
